Thai National Assembly Delegation to Visit Cambodia to Fortify Legislative Ties

Phnom Penh, March 19, 2024 – In a step towards fostering bilateral legislative cooperation, a high-level delegation from the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand is scheduled to embark on an official and friendly visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia. This visit aims to enhance the collaboration and partnership between the legislatures of the two neighboring countries.

According to the General Secretariat of the National Assembly, this visit comes at the invitation of Ms. Khuon Sodary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Mr. Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand, along with senior members, will be in Cambodia from March 21 to 23, 2024, marking a pivotal moment in legislative diplomacy between the two nations.

The delegation's agenda includes a courtesy call on Say Chhum, Acting Head of State and Chairman of the King's Personal Advisory Council, as well as meetings with Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Hun Manet. These engagements underscore the importance of strengthening ties not only between the governments but also between the people of Thailand and Cambodia.

A key highlight of the visit will be a bilateral discussion with Mr. Cheam Yeap, Acting President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia. This dialogue is expected to focus on deepening the friendship and cooperative efforts between the two legislative bodies, laying the groundwork for future collaboration in various domains.

Additionally, the Thai delegation's visit coincides with the 8th Cambodian Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, and they will partake in the observances, further illustrating the depth of cultural exchange and mutual respect between Thailand and Cambodia.

This visit symbolizes a commitment to enhancing diplomatic and legislative relations, paving the way for greater cooperation and understanding between the two countries.
